We are excited about the 2022-23 school year. Here are some tools and information that will help students and families succeed this year.
Due to an expected shortage of drivers, some JCPS bus routes will be routinely uncovered, requiring a second run to pick up those students in the morning and drop them off in the afternoon. To let families know if their child’s bus will be one of those running late and how delayed it will be, JCPS has created a Bus Delay Dashboard web page that will be updated weekly. Parents/guardians can check this web page each Saturday after 2 p.m. for changes to the upcoming week. The web page will have a list of the buses making double runs, what schools they serve, and the expected time of delay. Unexpected bus delays will not be tracked on this web page. Parents/guardians will be informed of unexpected delays by their child’s school via the School Messenger notification system.
BUS FINDER APP
The Interactive Bus Finder will help parents/guardians find their child's bus route, bus number and nearest bus stop. Just type in your address and school.
Important: If there have been ANY changes in your child's transportation plans, please call your school ASAP.
JCPS is committed to providing nutritious meals at a reasonable price. We provide meals for breakfast, lunch, after-school programs, summertime, and even during emergencies.

Most JCPS students are eligible to receive free meals.
- All students at these schools are eligible for meals at no cost through Community Eligibility (CE). An Educational Benefits Form should be completed if you have children attending these schools.
- These nine schools are not CE but many students who attend them may be eligible for free meals. Fill out this application to determine if your child is eligible for free or reduced-price meals. You may fill out an application online or at various JCPS locations.
- If you have children attending both types of schools, complete this application.
- If you have Pre-K students, please complete this application.
Households must complete a new application each school year. Applications are available in six different languages online at MySchoolApps or by clicking directly on the links below:
- Apply Now (English)
- Apply Now (Spanish)
- Apply Now (Arabic)
- Apply Now (French)
- Apply Now (Vietnamese)
- Apply Now (Chinese-Mandarin)
Online applications are faster, easier, and more confidential, but if you prefer, you can request a paper copy by calling (502) 485-6237 or by visiting your neighborhood school.
All other questions about school meals and nutrition should also be directed to (502) 485-6237.
If the map approved by our JCPS Board of Education to determine our COVID-19 protocols lists Jefferson County as being in the red, signaling high community transmission rates, it would trigger JCPS’ universal masking policy. Everyone entering a JCPS building or bus will be required to mask until the Monday after Jefferson County is no longer listed in the red. JCPS will update you on the district’s masking status.
Masks will be available for students, employees, and visitors who do not have their own.
JCPS’ current mask policy, which follows CDC guidance, was approved by the Board in March 2022. The board voted to continue the same mask policy when it updated JCPS Health Guidelines Tuesday, July 19, 2022.
COVID-19 TESTING
Students and staff may be tested at school by nurses. To participate in this testing, students must have a consent form on file. Parents or guardians can access the form online.
At-home tests are available for JCPS students, family and staff as supplies are available. They can be requested by going to: https://forms.gle/ckX2h9PHtc9DEurJ7.

At most JCPS elementary schools, the hours are 9:05 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. At most middle and high schools, hours are 7:40 a.m. to 2:20 p.m.
Notify school staff about any health problems that will affect your child's school day. If your child needs to take medication at school, make arrangements with the school nurse.
Here is a list of the basic supplies students will need.
Have you filled out health, emergency contact, and other forms that have been sent home? You can find many of these forms on the Parent Place website or on the School Health Requirements web page.
Have you signed up with the district’s School Messenger alert system so you will receive emergency notifications and other important information? Have you signed up for SchoolCNXT to receive updates from your child’s school?
JCPS schools and administration do our best to keep families informed, but we need your contact information. Let your child's school know the easiest ways to contact you in case of emergency, to share information about your child's academics and to receive e-newsletters and importation information updates from JCPS.
