    (Recognizing a teacher that displays one of our nine core values. Students submit an essay, poem, thank you letter, or video essay.  Please help us promote this award by getting the information out to all of your students.)

Teacher Excellence Award 

The Hilliard Lyons Teacher Excellence Award will honor four Jefferson County Public School teachers that are demonstrating innovation in the classroom via the Strategic Plan, Vision 2020. Each winning teacher will be awarded $1,000 to support programs or projects in their classroom. 

  • Nominations may be submitted by the supervising principal or a community member with an endorsement of the supervising principal. (Endorsements should be sent to Tawnya May)
  • Applications will be reviewed and winners selected by a committee comprised of community representatives selected by Hilliard Lyons.

PLC Excellence Award 

The PLC Excellence Award will honor four Jefferson County Public School Professional Learning Communities that are demonstrating innovation in the classroom via the Strategic Plan, Vision 2020. Each winning PLC team will be awarded $2,000 to support programs or projects in their classroom. 

  • Nominations may be submitted by the supervising principal. 
  • Applications will be reviewed and winners selected by a committee comprised of community representatives selected by Hilliard Lyons.

Principal Excellence Award 

The Hilliard Lyons Principal Excellence Award will honor four Jefferson County Public School principals that are demonstrating leadership and innovation in their school via the Strategic Plan, Vision 2020. Each winning principal will be awarded $1,000 to support programs or projects at their school. 

  • Nominations may be submitted by a community member or faculty member.
  • Nominations must be endorsed by the achievement area assistant superintendent for the principal’s school. (Endorsements should be sent to Tawnya May)
  • Applications will be reviewed and winners selected by a committee comprised of community representatives selected by Hilliard Lyons.

5-Star High School Excellence Award

The 5 Star School Excellence Awards will recognize one Principal, one Teacher, and one PLC for from a 5-Star school involved in the Ford Next Generation Learning program who demonstrates how this program is incorporating innovation in the classroom via the Strategic Plan, Vision 2020. The winning teacher and principal will be awarded $1,000 each and the PLC will be awarded $2,000 to support programs or projects in their classroom. 

  • Nominations may be submitted by the supervising principal for teacher or PLC or the supervising area assistant superintendent for principal or a community member with an endorsement of the supervising principal or area assistant superintendent. (Endorsements should be sent to Tawnya May)
  • The nominee(s) must embody the strategies outlined in the “Transforming Instruction” part of the master plan by having participated in teacher externships, project-based learning and cross-department collaboration between core and CTE subjects
  • A video is requested of students’ projects reflecting nominee’s instruction 
  • Applications will be reviewed and winners selected by a committee comprised of community representatives selected by Hilliard Lyons.

Goal Clarity Coach Excellence Award

The Goal Clarity Excellence Award will honor a Jefferson County Public School Goal Clarity Coach that is demonstrating innovation in the classroom via the Strategic Plan, Vision 2020. The winning teacher will be awarded $1,000 to support programs or projects in their classroom. 

  • Nominations may be submitted by a teacher within his/her school
  • Applications will be reviewed and winners selected by a committee comprised of community representatives selected by Hilliard Lyons.

Audwin and Rae Helton Teacher Excellence Award 

Audwin and Rae Helton have established an annual teacher Excellence Award program to honor a Jefferson County Public School Teacher who demonstrates innovation in the classroom via the Strategic Plan, Vision 2020.   The winning teacher will be awarded $1,000 to support programs or projects in their classroom. 

  • The teacher may be nominated by their supervising principal 
  • The teacher must be a 2015-16 member of GLABSE. 
  • Applications will be reviewed and winners selected by a committee comprised of community representatives selected by Hilliard Lyons

Bellarmine University Teacher Excellence Award

Bellarmine University has established an annual teacher Excellence Award program to honor a Jefferson County Public School teacher who is a graduate from Bellarmine University’s Graduate School who demonstrates innovation in the classroom via the Strategic Plan, Vision 2020.  The winning teacher will be awarded $1,000 to support programs or projects in their classroom. 

  • The teacher may be nominated by their supervising principal or by Bellarmine University with an endorsement of the supervising principal. (Endorsements should be sent to Tawnya May)
  • Applications will be reviewed and winners selected by a committee comprised of community representatives selected by Hilliard Lyons

EY Accounting or Business Teacher Excellence Award 

Ernst and Young has established an annual Teacher Excellence Award to honor a Jefferson County Public School teacher in the area of accounting and business who demonstrates how they are incorporating innovation in the classroom via the Strategic Plan, Vision 2020. The winning teacher will be awarded $1,000 to support programs or projects in their classroom. 

  • The teacher may be nominated by their supervising principal or a community member with the endorsement of the supervising principal. (Endorsements should be sent to Tawnya May)
  • Applications will be reviewed and winners selected by a committee comprised of community representatives selected by Hilliard Lyons

Jefferson Community & Technical College Teacher Excellence Award 

Jefferson Community & Technical College has established an annual Teacher Excellence Award to honor a Jefferson County Public School teacher who is a graduate from Jefferson Community & Technical College that demonstrates innovation in the classroom via the Strategic Plan, Vision 2020.  The winning teacher will be awarded $1,000 to support programs or projects in their classroom.  ;

  • The teacher may be nominated by their supervising principal or by JCTC with an endorsement of the supervising principal. (Endorsements should be sent to Tawnya May)
  • Applications will be reviewed and winners selected by a committee comprised of community representatives selected by Hilliard Lyons 
  • Nominate a Teacher for the Jefferson Community & Technical College Award

University of Louisville Teacher Excellence Award 

The University of Louisville has established an annual Teacher Excellence Award to honor a Jefferson County Public School teacher who is a graduate from the University of Louisville Graduate School that innovation in the classroom via the Strategic Plan, Vision 2020.  The winning teacher will be awarded $1,000 to support programs or projects in their classroom.

  • The teacher may be nominated by their supervising principal or by the University of Louisville with an endorsement of the supervising principal. (Endorsements should be sent to Tawnya May)
  • Applications will be reviewed and winners selected by a committee comprised of community representatives selected by Hilliard Lyons

Carbide Student-Nominated High School Teacher Excellence Award 

Students recognize a high school teacher whose actions and/or work reflect one of the district’s core values. The winning teacher will be awarded $1,000 to support programs or projects in their classroom.
