Archives—Visiting the Archives

Appointments

Contact the JCPS Archives and Records Center in advance to schedule research appointments. We prepare for visits in advance by determining whether we have requested materials and whether they are open to research. We pull materials from closed storage and ensure that staff is available to assist. Research appointments assist Archives staff in helping visitors at varied times and managing limited research space.

Call (502) 485-3098 to plan visits, or send an email to james.cundy@jefferson.kyschools.us. Please read the Archives guidelines before your visit.

Location

See the map in the sidebar. The C. B. Young Jr. Service Center is an 11-building complex at 3001 Crittenden Drive, near Central Avenue and interchanges for the Watterson Expressway (I-264) and I-65. To find the front entrance to Building 6, where the Archives is located, take the narrow driveway on the south side of the C. B. Young complex. This driveway, marked with a JCPS facility sign, is close to the Kentucky Exposition Center's service entrance Gate 3 and is opposite the Sternberg Sales lot across Crittenden Drive.

You can identify Building 6 by the Library Media Services sign over the entranceway. The Archives' front entrance is located in the center of Building 6's hallway.

Parking

Near front entrance: At the south driveway's end, there is a parking area behind Building 6. Other possibilities may be found near the entrances to Buildings 4, 5, and 6 off the south driveway.

Parking and entrance from C. B. Young's north side: Return to the front of the facility on Crittenden Drive. Take the wider driveway on the north side of the facility. As you face the C. B. Young main building entrance, there is a gated parking lot to the left. After parking, walk across the service/maintenance vehicle lot (where some vehicles are active) to the Building 4 entrance. Inside the building, look for signs pointing to the Archives entrance in Building 6.
