The EXPRESS Program provides intensive General Educational Development (GED) preparation courses as well as help with the transition to college and work opportunities.

EXPRESS is a program option for students who receive a "Likely to Pass" or "Too Close to Call" status on the GED Ready tests. Most students do not have the same skills in every content area. While one student may be ready to proceed in one or more content areas, it is likely that other areas require additional study. Sometimes, a quick brushup is enough, and other times, intensive classroom study is needed. EXPRESS will provide the brushup.

EXPRESS is a framework that allows qualifying students to progress to the GED test through a combination of independent and direct classroom instruction. This includes content areas, technology, and test-taking skills. EXPRESS students receive extra support from staff with the following: Academic Advising, Goal Setting, Transition to College and Career, and Completing the GED Process.

JCPS Adult Education offers three-week sessions at the following times: 9 a.m. to 12 noon, 1 to 3 p.m., and 5 to 8 p.m.

The main EXPRESS location is Ahrens Learning Center, 546 South First Street, Louisville, KY 40202. However, EXPRESS is also offered on a rotating basis at some community sites.
