Support for District Offices

Computer Education Support (CES) furthers the integration of technology in district offices by offering professional development (PD) for such administrative systems as Infinite Campus for student tracking, Munis for financial accounting, and EPES for school activity accounting. The department also provides training and support for the following Microsoft Office applications:

  • Word
  • Excel
  • PowerPoint
  • Access
  • Outlook/Outlook Web Access
  • Skype for Business
  • SharePoint
  • InfoPath (limited to support in SharePoint)

All JCPS employees are eligible for Microsoft Office 365 Education for free home use.

Here are just a few of the additional services that CES offers JCPS employees to help increase office productivity in the workplace.

Microsoft Office

Microsoft Office workshops are offered during our three-week Technoversity Institute in July. These workshops include beginning to advanced topics for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Registration opens in June via pdCentral. All JCPS staff are welcome to attend.

Microsoft Office training is offered during the school year via Technoversity Tuesday webinars. These mini sessions cover intermediate and advanced levels of Microsoft Office and SharePoint. The week before the webinar, an email advertising upcoming sessions is sent to subscribers. If you would like to receive an email notification for upcoming Technoversity Tuesday webinars, you can subscribe to the distribution list. Registration is via pdCentral. If you cannot attend a webinar, download the handout from the CES Resource Library or watch the archived recordings at a later date.

Specialized Microsoft Office training is available. Please contact Rachel Hardin to request a session based on your school/office needs.

Office Blog
In addition to training, CES posts weekly tips for Microsoft Office in our Microsoft Office Blog. Tips cover a variety of topics from basic to advanced skills. Many of the tips include videos. JCPS employees may visit our blog to read the tips online or subscribe to receive the tip of the week via email.

Schools and departments may request a SharePoint 2013 site to share documents and other information with their staff. CES offers one-on-one training and support to assist district offices in planning and building their SharePoint site. CES also has developed a SharePoint training site where employees can find training manuals and see examples of using SharePoint in the workplace. Visit our SharePoint blog with tips and tricks for SharePoint 2013. Set up an appointment to get started with SharePoint. Lab sessions are held on Wednesday and Thursday by appointment in two-hour blocks:

  • 8 to 10 a.m.
  • 10 a.m. to 12 noon
  • 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.

Labs are held at Edwards Education Complex or online via Blackboard Collaborate. If you are unable to attend during regular office hours, after-school hours can be arranged. Click the button below or send an email to Rachel Hardin to schedule an appointment.
