Retirement Savings Opportunities

All JCPS employees may elect to contribute to various supplemental retirement-planning options. Employees control how much they wish to contribute and have a variety of investment options available, all within IRS guidelines. JCPS does not contribute to or match contributions in these retirement plans.

Kentucky Deferred Compensation (KDC) gives thousands of public employees the opportunity to have a more financially secure future. It's a “one-stop shop” for supplemental retirement planning that offers the following defined contribution savings plans to all JCPS employees:

Kentucky school districts now have the opportunity to enroll on the KDC website. For more information, or to enroll/change your 401(k) or 457 plan with KDC, contact:

A 403(b) plan is a tax-deferred retirement plan available to employees of educational institutions and certain nonprofit organizations. In this plan, employees can make pre-tax contributions for retirement savings. Distributions generally are only available when you reach age 59 ½ or experience a severance of employment. However, distributions also can be available in the event of financial hardship, death, or disability.
