Eastern High School students rank among top business students in the nation

Students are part of the High School of Business program

Thirty-four students from Eastern High School scored among the top business students nationwide on rigorous exams to test their business knowledge, according to a Kentucky Department of Education press release.

The exams are part of the High School of Business, a national accelerated business administration program. The students from Eastern High School as well as two students from Bullitt East High School received the top scores.

Students participating in High School of Business complete real, hands-on business projects through a series of six courses. The program also includes observational internships, opportunities to earn college credit and local oversight by a steering team of college faculty, business professionals and school personnel.

High School of Business is a program of MBA Research and Curriculum Center, a nonprofit research-based support organization, run by a consortium of state departments of education, including the Kentucky Department of Education. MBA Research specializes in educational research and the development of business and marketing curricula for high schools and colleges across the United States.

The accelerated program is designed for college-bound students with an interest in business administration careers such as marketing, finance, entrepreneurship and management. About 6,000 students from across the nation participated in the program during the 2016-17 school year.
