Meeting set for January 28 at VanHoose Education Center
Community members are invited to share feedback at an upcoming community forum being held to discuss initiatives around nutrition, physical activity and general health and wellness for students in the Jefferson County Public School (JCPS) District.
The meeting, organized by the district’s Wellness Committee, will be held January 28 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the VanHoose Education Center. During the meeting, committee members will discuss action steps already in place as well as future plans to strengthen efforts to create more active and healthy school environments.
The committee’s goal is to support the district’s efforts to ensure every student is transition ready and ultimately life ready by providing resources that help schools improve the health of their students so they are ready to learn.
On November 27, the district's 2018-19 School Nutrition and Physical Activity Report was presented to the Jefferson County Board of Education. Each year, every Kentucky school district completes an annual assessment of its nutrition and physical activity initiatives and environment.
The report, which is available here, is also subject to feedback during a 60-day comment period. Input about the report may be submitted to Andrea Wright, nutrition initiatives coordinator for JCPS Nutrition Services, here.
A summary of findings and recommendations about the report will be submitted to the Kentucky Department of Education.
