JCPS, Humana Partner to Create Service Center for Families

JCPS 360° Student & Family Support Center at Humana open for services

October 21, 2020 – Jefferson County Public School (JCPS) families who need help with their student’s computer, getting a special education screening or deciding what school their child should attend next year can now get in-person help. Humana has donated two floors in its Waterside Building for the JCPS 360° Student & Family Support Center, a one-stop, social distancing-friendly service center in downtown Louisville. The space is available because the employees who normally work there have been working from home throughout the pandemic.

“We’re excited that Humana and its employees are offering this large space for JCPS to essentially set up satellite district offices,” said Dr. Marty Pollio, JCPS superintendent. “This is a tremendous opportunity for our families to get the safe, face-to-face help they’re requesting with everything from guidance on using Chromebooks and Google Classroom to language translation services.”

The JCPS 360° Student & Family Support Center at Humana, located at 101 E. Main St., is available by appointment Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (subject to change) through at least the end of the year. Families can make an appointment by visiting https://signup.com/go/pNsoYzt.  Services include:

“The JCPS support center is an example of how we are working together to help our hometown through the pandemic,” said Bruce Broussard, Humana president and CEO. “We appreciate the teamwork with JCPS to offer the services that are the highest priorities for students and their families. Tailoring these offerings as needs change is one of the ways that we are helping students succeed in the current learning environment.”

Parking is available in Humana’s surface parking lot at Washington and Brook Streets free of charge to families during their appointments. Families should enter the Waterside building using the Washington Street entrance.
