JCPS to Showcase Schools Virtually

All JCPS schools will host virtual open houses to help families explore choices

October 19, 2020 – Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) will host virtual open houses for all its elementary, middle and high schools this year to help families and students explore their school choice options.  The virtual sessions, which start this week, are being held in lieu of the traditional Showcase of Schools and in-person open houses at school sites to comply with social distancing guidelines.

“As much as we would love to have families visit schools in person, the health and safety of our students and staff remain our top priority,” said Superintendent Dr. Marty Pollio.  “I’m proud of the JCPS community for coming up with an innovative way to highlight our programs and introduce our teaching staffs, even during these challenging times.”

The virtual open houses will offer both a video introduction to the school and a live question-and-answer session. The sessions will take place on each school’s Facebook page according to this schedule

The JCPS School Choice Registration and Application period for the 2021-22 school year runs Monday, Nov. 2, through Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2020.

Families are encouraged to use these resources for exploring school choice options:

  • Determine if you need to register and/or apply for school, and find out how
  • Review the interactive elementary, middle, and high school Choices guides
  • Mark your calendar for virtual open houses of the schools that you are interested in. This is your opportunity to get an inside look at the school and get your questions answered by school representatives.
