Manual receives $10,000 gift for book program

DuPont Manual High School has a new textbook program thanks to a $10,000 gift from Steve and Sheila Baker and their family-owned business Korrect Optical.

On April 13, the couple joined school leaders for a ribbon-cutting and dedication of the Korrect Optical Next Chapter Program. The program supports in-depth coursework by providing textbooks and supporting materials for a wide variety of classes, and the books will benefit all grade levels and students.

“This is a wonderful example of parents and the community joining forces with our school to meet the needs of our students,” said Manual Principal Jerry Mayes. “We very much appreciate the Bakers' generosity.”

Manual teachers and students joined Principal Mayes to thank the Bakers for the gift. Sheila Baker cut the ribbon to officially open the collection.
