“By supporting students' holistic development, I know that every student can and will grow socially, emotionally and academically,” Franklin said. “I desire every student to gain a sense of belonging and pride in their school. I want to establish a sense of trust and build their confidence to know they can achieve anything.”

Franklin started her career in Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) 13 years ago. She served as a school counselor at Schaffner Traditional Elementary, DuValle Education Center, and Stuart Academy. In addition, she worked as Middle school Language Arts teacher at Stuart Academy.

Prior to teaching, Franklin served as a social worker for the Cabinet for Health and Family Services. Having served as a hands-on teacher, counselor, assistant principal and community-based service worker has given her the opportunity to effectively work with diverse populations and see firsthand the challenges faced.

“Ms Franklin is a collaborative leader who focuses on developing strong teacher teams,” said Dr. LaMesa Marks-Johns, assistant superintendent for elementary schools, zone 1. “She believes in engaging all stakeholders in the teaching and learning process and is committed to high student achievement.”

Franklin earned a Kentucky administration/principal certification from Western Kentucky University and a master’s degree in counseling education, a master’s degree in education and a bachelor’s degree in psychology, all from the University of Louisville.

Franklin described herself as a servant leader whose ability to build teacher capacity, communicate, collaborate, build relationships, and support students and families will help Crums Lane students be successful.

“As I step into this position, my goal is to continue the great work already happening at Crums Lane by building a framework for continued success,” Franklin said. “My goal is to consistently work to provide instructional and behavioral support while strengthening culture and climate and racial equity as it relates to the academic success of students.”
