Teaching and Learning is a department in Academic Services and includes the following departments: Curriculum Design and Learning Innovations, Title I, II, IV and Program Supports, Professional Learning and Development, and Library Media Services. Key areas of focus include strengthening the instructional core by implementing the Kentucky Academic Standards (K-12) across every discipline in concert with the JCPS Success Skills. The departments in Teaching and Learning focus on building coherence across a student’s academic journey, K-12, in order to ensure students have exposure to deeper and more personalized learning experiences.
The Teaching and Learning departments support principals and teachers in operationalizing the JCPS Vision for Deeper Learning, outlined in Vision 2020. Evidence-based practices support the instructional core so that teachers and leaders can accelerate learning outcomes. Professional learning communities (PLCs) support the implementation of the JCPS Systems blueprint and evidenced-based instructional practices.
