The most important thing we want our families to know is that this version of NTI will look different than it did in the spring. While we did have success with NTI before, we know we can do more. With the time we have right now, we are building a more robust program that will incorporate new instruction and a more meaningful experience for students in pre-K through 12th grade. We are also looking at providing NTI-to-Go kits for all students that include school supplies and other items to help support equity.
Our teachers are ready. NTI 2.0 will have more live and recorded instruction much like a traditional in-person classroom experience, more opportunities for interaction with classmates and teachers, and more guided coursework that will be individualized to meet the needs of our students. Parents can also expect frequent communication from their child’s school and teacher.
It is not our intent to have students in front of a computer for 6 hours a day. But when they are engaged with this virtual learning experience, there will be online field trips and opportunities to take what they learn in NTI and apply it to hands-on projects that are off-line. Our approach to NTI will be more streamlined. The goal is to have consistent platforms in place for ease of understanding and a format that students will be familiar with.
We want this to be a different experience for parents as well. Parents will be getting information about orientation opportunities to learn more about navigating online learning. Your child’s school will be providing more information about this in August. Thank you to our parents who provided feedback and answered our survey about NTI at the beginning of the summer. We had about 17,000 responses and we have listened. We believe this will be an experience to meet your child’s needs.
