Many of you have had questions about what will happen when our school buildings reopen. We've been collecting questions over the past few weeks and have answers for you.
COVID-19 Vaccine Updates
We have updated information for all employees who received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine before February 1.
If you received the first dose of the vaccine before February 1, you must schedule a time to get your second dose. We encourage all employees who got the initial vaccine in this group to make your appointment for the second dose as soon as possible. Our goal is for all elementary staff, and those that support elementary schools, to get their second dose of the vaccine this week.
Your CDC vaccination card is not your confirmed appointment date. The Health Department is coordinating the scheduling for the second dose of the vaccine.
The Health Department has communicated to us the scheduling process is running smoother and it should be easier for you to schedule an appointment for the second dose.
- Be sure that every time you go in, you go to Step 3 and fill out the Informed Consent (as pictured on the right).
- If you have trouble, change browsers. It seems like Chrome has trouble sometimes.
- More appointments are added regularly.
If you received the first dose of the vaccine on or after February 1, the Health Department has or will email you information about your scheduled time and date for your second dose.
NOTE: Emails will come from email@example.com and it will include “on behalf of LouVax Community." If you need to reschedule your appointment, follow the directions in the email.
JCPS is once again providing transportation to the LouVax site at Broadbent Arena for employees to receive their second dose of the vaccine. Click here to see the schedule if you would like a ride.

Facts to Remember
While there are extensive guidelines that all district employees must follow, we want to ensure that everyone understands these four basic items:
- Every employee must complete the Health Screener/Telecommuting/Absent Form every day at http://jcps.me/employeesignin.
- Employees must wear a mask when around other people.
- Wash your hands frequently. When washing is not available, use hand sanitizer.
- If you have COVID-19 symptoms, have been recently diagnosed with COVID-19, or have been told by a health professional to quarantine, do not enter a JCPS facility.
During the current pandemic, we are required to have everyone who is returning to a physical work location within JCPS complete a health screener. For those who may be working remotely, you must complete an online form to share with your supervisor.
If you are absent (not working on a regular work day as outlined in your working calendar, which could be a vacation day, personal day, sick day, or emergency leave), you must still access the system and enter that you are absent. This does not replace the normal processes for being absent. If you are going to be absent for an extended period, you may enter a range of dates so that it does not have to be completed each day you are out.
Positive COVID-19 Case at Your Work Location
- If someone tests positive for COVID-19 at your work location, a notice will be placed at the building. You will be notified if you had a prolonged contact with the individual who tested positive.
- If an employee tells their supervisor they’ve tested positive for COVID-19 or have been exposed to someone who has tested positive and have COVID-19 symptoms, the supervisor must complete the JCPS Health Services’ Communicable Disease Form.
JCPS employees are required to wear a mask at work anytime they are moving or around other people. If you have a health condition that prevents you from wearing a mask, you will need to receive approval for an accommodation through the JCPS Benefits Office. To request an accommodation, please complete the Employees Who Are at Higher Risk form.
Employees must follow social distancing protocols established by the Kentucky Department of Public Health and Kentucky Department of Education (KDE). Limiting face-to-face contact with others is the best way to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
Social distancing, also called “physical distancing,” means keeping space between yourself and other people outside of your home. To practice social or physical distancing:
- Stay at least 6 feet (about 2 arms’ length) from other people.
- Do not gather in groups.
- Stay out of crowded places, and avoid mass gatherings.
Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, you should use hand sanitizer with at least 60 percent alcohol.
Symptoms or a Positive Diagnosis of COVID-19
If you have COVID-19 symptoms (see below), received a positive test for COVID-19, or have been told by a health professional to quarantine, do not enter a JCPS facility and contact District Health Services at (502) 485-3387.
- Fever or chills
- New, uncontrolled cough
- New shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
- Muscle or body aches (not due to muscle strain)
- New loss of taste or smell
- Sore throat
- Congestion or runny nose
- Nausea or vomiting
- Temperature of 100.40F or greater
