History and Information
The Organization of Board Committees was approved by the Jefferson County Board of Education (JCBE) on August 13, 2007. Three groups were formed to serve in an advisory capacity - Facilities & Maintenance Committee, Finance & Budget Committee, and Policy Development Committee. The Board Chair appoints three members of the JCBE to serve on each committee for one-year terms, and the Chief Financial Officer acts as staff liaison.
The current Finance Advisory Committee began in April 2017. Meetings are held the second Thursday of each month, from 5 to 6 p.m., VanHoose Education Center in the Stewart Auditorium at 3332 Newburg Road. The 2017-2018 discussion has focused on how a school board effectively monitors the district budget, reviews important district reports, and how this information is used for school improvement and effective stakeholder communication.
