The Dawson Orman Education Center houses 19 Early Childhood Jump Start classrooms. Jump Start includes Head Start, Early Head Start, Kentucky Education Reform Act (KERA) Preschool, the Three-Year-Old Program, the Family Education Program, and the Special Needs Program.
The Dawson Orman Education Center also has housed a Suzuki music program, a Healthy Start Clinic, and part of Jefferson County High School (JCHS). Several other JCPS offices are also located here: Safe and Drug-Free Schools, Student Relations, and Homeless and Migrant Education.
Dawson Orman was a longtime principal and assistant superintendent of pupil personnel. The center was built on the site of the old Male High football stadium near Brook and Breckinridge Streets.
