Child Enrichment Program Details

A High-Quality Program

The Child Enrichment Program (CEP) offers before- and after-school care to all JCPS students from kindergarten through eighth grade. Bus transportation is available for most students between their school and a CEP site.

We pride ourselves on providing a safe environment where your child can participate in fun activities that enrich, strengthen, and expand his or her learning. The activities focus on literacy, the arts and humanities, recreation, science and technology, academic support, fitness, character development, and asset building.

Our goal is to help your child build a healthy spirit, mind, and body.

Trained Staff

Our outstanding staff members receive extensive hours of professional-development (PD) training that exceeds state-licensing requirements. All staff are CPR- and first aid-certified, and we meet or exceed state staff-to-child ratios.

Daily Schedule

Regular program hours are from 7 a.m. to the start of your child's school day and from the close of school to 6 p.m.

Continuous care is available from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. at select locations when school is not in session. Spring Break, Winter Break, and summer programs require separate registration. Site locations may vary due to consolidation, and transportation to and from the CEP site is the responsibility of the parent.

In addition to planned activities and programs, each child receives healthy morning and afternoon snacks. Breakfast is served for children in the before-school program.

Registration for the before- and after-school programs continues throughout the school year based on space availability. All sites have minimum and maximum enrollment numbers, and registrations are processed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Registration must be received at least two business days before the child's start date. All parents must pay registration fees.

CEP is committed to affordable and high-quality childcare. During the school year, your fee pays for breakfast, an afternoon snack, activities, and transportation between CEP sites and schools. During full-day care (Winter Break, Spring Break, Summer Break, PD Days, and snow days), fees pay for morning and afternoon snacks, field trips, and all other activities. (Parents must provide a sack lunch on full days.)

To help make CEP affordable to all parents, the YMCA offers the Spirit Program, a sliding-scale, income-based financial assistance program. Call (502) 637-1575 or visit for a Spirit Program application.

All CEP sites are also eligible for third-party subsidy reimbursements from such programs as Community Coordinated Child Care (4C), Foster Care, and United Way. A valid contract must be on file with our main office before the program start date. Spirit Program assistance is available only for those who do not qualify for 4C or other third-party subsidies.
