Brown School offers students in grades 1-5 the opportunity to learn the violin early, with no previous experience required. The Suzuki method emphasizes listening to the repertoire first, then reading music.
All students in grades 1-3 will play the violin, while those in grades 4- 5 may choose between violin, viola, or cello. Students need a playable instrument, either their own or a rental. Brown offers limited rental instruments for $50.00 on a first-come, first-served basis. If instruments are unavailable, students can rent from a local store. The program fee is $40, covering materials and the MakeMusic Cloud subscription, payable after enrollment. Classes last 35 minutes, twice weekly on Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday, during their special area class, replacing half of that class.
