The Jefferson County Board of Education (JCBE) will hold two community forums today, Tuesday, May 20, 2025, to allow the public to hear from the two finalists in the search for the next Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) Superintendent.

The forums, moderated by Hazard Young Attea Associates (HYA), are open to all community members and will provide an opportunity to learn more about the candidates. The first forum, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the JCPS Center for Professional Learning (3903 Atkinson Square Dr., Louisville, KY 40218), will be streamed live on the JCBE YouTube page from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and available for later viewing on the same platform.

For those who are unable to attend the forums in person, there is also an option to submit questions for the candidates online.

The forum schedule is as follows:

Forum 1:

  • Time: 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

  • Location: JCPS Center for Professional Learning, 3903 Atkinson Square Dr., Louisville, KY 40218

Forum 2:

  • Time: 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

  • Location: Stopher Elementary School, 14417 Aiken Rd, Louisville, KY 40245

The two finalists, Ben Shuldiner and Dr. H. Brian Yearwood, were selected after a process that began following Dr. Marty Pollio's announcement in September 2024 that he would retire at the end of the current school year. The JCBE engaged HYA to assist with the search, which involved reviewing 34 applicants and conducting interviews with six candidates on May 5th and 6th.

The public is invited to share their feedback on the two finalists with the JCBE through online forms created by HYA.

The JCBE encourages community participation in this important step of the superintendent selection process.
