Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) is looking for passionate and engaged community members to join its new initiative, the JCPS Community Champions program. Announced in November 2025, this program aims to cultivate a robust, informed network of ambassadors dedicated to promoting the District's achievements, accurately addressing community concerns, and providing valuable feedback.
JCPS Community Champions will be guided by three core objectives:
Increase Positive Visibility: Champions will amplify positive initiatives and accomplishments of JCPS across their personal and professional networks.
Correct Misinformation: Champions will be reliable and factual sources to gently but effectively counter inaccuracies in the community, whether in neighborhood meetings or online forums.
Gather Feedback: Champions will provide the District with "pulse-checks" by sharing community insights, common questions, and overall sentiment through regular correspondence and meetings with the communications team.
JCPS has structured the experience to be valuable for new ambassadors. Champions will receive the official title of JCPS Community Champion and formal recognition from Superintendent Dr. Brian Yearwood and the Board of Education. The Communications team will also provide professional development opportunities, including communications training and a detailed briefing on current topics.
The selection of the inaugural cohort is a rigorous process to ensure the program's success. The official JCPS Community Champion Application Form is now available for submission, welcoming both direct applications and nominations.
All applications must be received by Monday, November 24, 2025.
JCPS expects selected Champions to attend a mandatory orientation in January, pass a certification survey and then move on to a one-year commitment that includes virtual monthly meetings and quarterly in-person sessions.
