Graphic says: Happy Teacher Appreciation Week. To: Ms. Cashman, Southern High School. I’ve had you as a teacher for 3 years now, and you have impacted my life more than any other teacher I’ve ever had. You push me even when I want to give up. You have given me the tools I need to succeed in life. Not only have you helped me grow as a person, you’ve also helped me grow my career and my emotional health. You have cared for me more than anyone I know. You have inspired me to continue on the path I’m on, so I can be a teacher like you one day. I can’t thank you enough for everything you’ve done for me. From: Piper K., 12th Grade, Southern High School

Graphic says: A Big Thank You. Happy National School Nurses Week! Tracey Jones. Jeffersontown High. “We would like to recognize nurse Tracey from Jeffersontown High School for her outstanding dedication to patient care and health education. Tracey overcame language barriers through the effective use of interpreter services with the Language Line. By proactively reaching out to parents/guardians in their preferred language, Tracey ensured that families received clear, culturally sensitive education about recommended vaccines. This commitment to inclusivity and health equity not only empowered parents to make informed decisions, but also helped improve community health outcomes.” - Heather Karem, Nurse Practitioner

Graphic says: Happy Teacher Appreciation Week. To Ms. Ice, Laukhuf Elementary. From Miranda W., 12th grade, Louisville Male High School. I hope you are doing well! As I look back on my education, I can’t help but think of the incredible impact you had on my learning and personal growth. I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude for your dedication, encouragement, and the lasting influence you’ve had on my life. Looking back, I truly appreciate the time and effort you put into making learning engaging and meaningful. Your kindness, patience, and belief in your students made a difference, and I am so grateful to have been one of them. From coming in as a new student with only a few months left of school, you welcomed me with open arms. You made me feel as though I had known you for years. You are the reason I am where I am today, and I am beyond grateful. Thank you for believing in me when I didn’t have faith in myself. Thank you for guiding me through school while also making sure I figured it out on my own. You taught me independence and just how important maturity was. You gave me a helping hand when I needed it most. No matter what the situation was, regardless if it was friends, family, school or just about anything, you were always willing to be there and listen to me talk. As I navigate through life, I will forever appreciate your kindness and words. Thank you for sticking by my side during times I felt like I couldn’t do it! You are an incredible teacher, and your impact reaches far beyond the years in your classroom. As I move on with life and begin my own journey, I will always remember your kind words and to never forget to keep going. You don’t come across many people who help you through life, but I am forever grateful to have that person as you. I love you beyond words and thank you for being you!

A Big Thank You! Happy National School Nurses Week! Kristen Mattioli. Bates Elementary. “Upon entering the office at Bates Elementary, you will quickly notice that Nurse Kristen is an integral part of the school community. In addition to students coming to her office for an array of medical needs, many stop by for a quick hug or word of reassurance to start their day. Her efforts have created a space where students feel safe and cared for, which is an undeniable talent of a great school nurse.” - Mary Texas, APRN, FNP

Happy National Speech-Language-Hearing Month! “Never assume a person who has difficulty communicating has nothing to say.” — Stacy Sekinger Being an SLP in JCPS has always been about meeting the needs of our littlest learners and their families. Everyday I get to play, laugh, and—sometimes—cry with them as we navigate what can be a very overwhelming introduction to the ECE world. Communication is a foundational right for all people. Helping toddlers access that right by developing a way to communicate with their loved ones is so very rewarding. I love my job! — Jenny Lockwood, Speech-Language Pathologist at Early Childhood Diagnostic Center

Graphic says: A Big Thank You. Happy National School Nurses Week! Katelyn Young, Okolona Elementary. “Katelyn works diligently to provide quality care to all students at Okolona Elementary. She goes above and beyond to build relationships with families, ensuring they have access to resources and feel comfortable contacting her with any questions or concerns. A recent example of her commitment is contacting families of students that failed vision screenings and making sure they were aware of Adarsh clinics. This resulted in 5 students getting access to much needed glasses that will play a huge role in their academic success. She has been a great resource to our zone and is always willing to answer any questions from fellow nurses.” - Mary Texas, APRN, FNP

Yuriany Beitia smiles.

Dear Layne Elementary 3rd-5th Grade Families,

As we prepare for the upcoming Kentucky Summative Assessment (KSA), we want to ensure our 3rd–5th grade students are energized and comfortable after testing. To support them, we are kindly asking for snack donations that can be distributed to students after the testing sessions each day. Individually wrapped, single serve snacks that are peanut free such as granola bars, pretzels, crackers, or fruit snacks are a good idea. Your generosity helps set our students up for success, and we sincerely appreciate your continued support. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the school at 502-485-8290.

Thank you!
