The Liberty community hopes everyone is currently enjoying their summer break!  This message is intended to provide some clarity around a new Kentucky Bill (SB 181) that goes into effect this summer.  This bill directly impacts the ways our staff and volunteers can communicate with your student(s).  Effective Monday, June 16, 2025, all electronic communication directed to students must be routed through the parent or guardian, or via a student's JCPS email. Examples of direct communication no longer approved include direct text messages and/or the use of messaging apps like GroupMe/Slack/TeamSnap.  While the school and/or staff may continue to post announcements on social media platforms, staff (including school volunteers) will not be allowed to reply to students' comments within those apps.  Examples of non-approved direct social media platform communication include Facebook Messenger, Instagram Messenger, and direct replies on X (Formerly Twitter).

Please inform your child that any communication with a staff member or program volunteer must be conducted through their school issued JCPS email account beginning on June 13th.  Staff have been instructed to not reply to any communication that is received from students unless it comes through the student’s JCPS email.

We realize this new law will disrupt the communication systems of many of our summer programs.  However, staff have been instructed to shift summer program communication to students via the student’s JCPS email.
