Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) kicked off the 2025-26 school year on August 7. Teachers and staff welcomed back students and families, ready to embark on a year of learning and growth together.

Superintendent Dr. Brian Yearwood spent the day visiting multiple schools, witnessing firsthand the positive interactions taking place throughout the district. "What a great way to kick off the school year," said Yearwood. "The energy in our schools was inspiring. This is a testament to the hard work of our staff and the incredible support of our families. We are so proud of the great things happening in every building."

A key highlight of the day was the smooth and successful transportation of students. All JCPS bus riders were safely dropped off at their bus stops before 6:30 p.m.

While K-12 students are off to a great start, the district looks forward to welcoming its youngest learners later this month. JCPS Early Childhood students will begin their school year on Thursday, August 28.
