🌟 A Season of Joy, Discovery, and Respect
Dear Middletown Families,
The air is already buzzing with the excitement and warmth that the holiday season brings! It is a special time of year, and we look forward to the joy it brings to our students and community.
At Middletown, we believe in supporting the development of every student into a globally and culturally competent citizen. To honor this commitment and the rich diversity within our world, we are launching an engaging unit of study focused on holidays celebrated around the globe.
🗓️ Our Global Holiday Unit: December 1 - December 18
This enriching unit will begin as early as Monday, December 1, 2025. Students will explore a variety of traditions and customs, helping them gain a broader perspective on the world. This unit will culminate in a school-wide Gallery Walk on Thursday, December 18.
Featured Holidays: Students will have the opportunity to explore traditions related to Diwali, Hanukkah, Las Posadas, Christmas, Kwanzaa, Ramadan/Eid, and various New Year celebrations.
Personal Sharing: Students are also welcome and encouraged to share about their own personal or family holiday with their class, if they choose to do so.
🤝 Respecting Personal Choices
While we are excited for this opportunity to foster global understanding, we want to respect the personal choices of every family.
If you do not wish for your student to participate in the lessons and activities related to learning about diverse holidays, please notify the school office by emailing the following address:
JCPS.Middletown-Office@jefferson.kyschools.us
Please include your child’s full name and teacher’s name in the email.
Students who opt out will be provided with an alternate activity focused on core principles of becoming a globally and culturally competent citizen.
Thank you for your continued partnership as we work together to inspire curiosity, kindness, and respect in all of our students. We wish you and your family a wonderful start to the holiday season!
Sincerely,
Dr. Whitney Randall Proud Middletown Principal
