School Delay Update: February 2, 2026
Dear Middletown Families,
Due to the JCPS 2-hour delay, Middletown Elementary will begin school at 11:40 AM tomorrow, February 2.
Key Reminders:
Arrival: Doors open at 11:10 AM. This 30-minute window matches our daily morning routine.
Dismissal: School will end at its regular time, 4:20 PM.
Traffic: District crews are currently clearing parking lots. Please be aware that there is currently only one lane entering the lot off Old Harrods Creek and a partial blockage at the double turn.
Safety: Staff will be on-site to help direct traffic if needed.
We feel confident in our ability to safely receive students and look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow! Thank you for your patience and cooperation.
Warmly,
Dr. Whitney Randall, Proud Middletown Principal
DELAYED START| All JCPS schools will operate on a two-hour delay on Monday, February 2, 2026. Early Childhood classes are canceled for the day. All after school athletic events and extracurricular activities remain as scheduled. There is no change to dismissal times.
A delayed start will allow students to be at bus stops and walking to school in the daylight.

These conditions have led us to utilize another Non-Traditional Instruction (NTI) day on Friday, January 30. Students should follow their school-specific NTI instructions. NTI days are recognized as standard instructional days and will not extend the school calendar.
All athletic and extracurricular activities are canceled for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Note: Updates may take up to 24 hours to show up in the app.

We’ll share an update once the issue is resolved. Thank you for your patience and understanding, and we apologize for any inconvenience.

While our crews report that most main roads are in good shape, many side streets and neighborhood roads across the county remain hazardous. Due to these lingering conditions and low temperatures, we believe transitioning to NTI is the safest choice for our students and staff.
Students should follow their school’s established NTI protocols. NTI days are recognized as standard instructional days and will not extend the school calendar.
All after school athletic and extracurricular activities are canceled for Wednesday and Thursday. If there are any changes to the YMCA CEP program, families will be notified by YMCA CEP.
Thank you for your continued patience and flexibility as we navigate these winter conditions. Please stay warm and safe.

Subject: Help Middletown Shine: Our Journey to 80%
Hello Bulldog Families,
It is an incredible time to be at Middletown Elementary! This year, we have seen our "Journey to Success" reach new heights. From the wonderful feedback on our student-led conferences and exhibitions of learning to the parent perspectives shared on our school committees, your partnership is driving our growth.
Our K–5 students are showing impressive academic gains in their Winter MAP reports, and our community spirit is thriving. Following a fantastic Fall Festival, our PTA is already hard at work planning our upcoming school dance this February!
To keep this momentum going, we need your voice. Currently, we are at 6% completion for our Comprehensive School Survey, and our goal is to reach 80% or more. Please take a moment to provide the valuable feedback that helps our school shine and ensures our climate and culture continue to support every student.

Subject: Staying Safe and Prepared: Winter Weather & NTI
Dear Middletown Families,
With severe winter weather in the forecast, our priority is keeping our students safe while ensuring learning continues. We recognize that weather impacts every household differently, particularly when it comes to power outages.
To help your family prepare, please take a moment to review our NTI Plan and NTI Portal.
Should we move to NTI, the school building will be closed. However, provided there are no widespread electrical failures, our teachers and staff will be available virtually to assist your child. For the most up-to-date information on school closures or delays, please follow
JCPS directly and tune into your local news.
We hope you have a wonderful, safe, and cozy weekend.
Sincerely,
Dr. Whitney Randall
