Chess Club

Students are introduced to the challenges and complexities of the game. Open to all students, this club is taught by staff members. Players of all skill levels are encouraged to join, and beginning players are warmly welcomed.

Craft Club

This club is for anyone interested in getting crafty. We will make many different things such as stress balls, bookmarks, robots, and many other things that the club might want to explore. These products can be taken home, but we will also be making products for other students, teachers, schools staff or even for the students to gift to people outside of school. Come join us every other Friday after school!

Black Student Union (BSU)

OAN is excited about the 2022-2023 Black Student Union. The Mission of Olmsted Academy North’s Black Student Union is to help students strive for academic excellence, promote positive images of African Americans and help students become an integral part of the school and community at large. Once monthly guest speakers along with articles, video talks on race issues. There will be -twice monthly meetings. We will establish a President and Vice President for OAN once we hold our first 2 meetings. At the end of the year we will present our BSU project.

Cooking Club

Students will work and learn different recipes and cooking techniques. Each meeting time we will explore a new recipe. Students will learn basic cooking, following a recipe, cooking types and styles, cooking language and much more! Cooking club is a fun, relaxed environment to make food and try new recipes.

Anime/Manga/Beyblade Club

This club involves the study of several popular cartoons that originate from other countries. Students read and discuss chapters and view corresponding cartoon episodes sporadically throughout the club. All episodes are viewed with subtitles, so students must read the material, which is then examined for social content, plot, themes, character evolution, and other literary themes. We also will include an area for BeyBlade. Bring your BeyBlade tops and battle it out!

Parent, Teacher, Student Association (PTSA)

No one has better insight into school needs than students! We encourage all students to join and be a part of the decision making! The meetings are held to discuss topics that are important to our school or simply to set up something fun; we decide!

Quick Recall/Speech and Debate

Quick Recall is a four-person academic team trivia game. The questions come from social studies, science, math, ELA and arts and humanities. Every Wednesday after school, students work with their teammates to answer more general knowledge trivia questions than the opposing team. Students who play Quick Recall have good memorization skills, and interest in diverse topics, speedy recall and a willingness to take risks and be wrong. In the spring Quick Recall students participate in the State Governor's Cup competition. There are three levels: a 6th grade team, a JV team for 6th & 7th grade, and a Varsity team for 7th & 8th graders. If you love trivia and learning new things, come join the Quick Recall team! Speech and Debate is a way that students can learn more about current events and get better at using claim, evidence and reasoning. We debate a variety of fun topics and even go to tournaments! If you want to be more confident in speaking or if you want a fun place to debate topics, come and join speech and debate!!

Young Gents Club

The Young Gents Mentoring Program focuses on our students garnering the tools they need in life to become young men of quality. We focus on positive Character Development, Confidence, Scholarship, Health and Wellness, Life Skills and So much more! Professionals in the workforce come in to engage our students with activities and information to assist them in their choice of what they may want to do as a career and how to start working on goals to be successful.
