Senior Sunday Spotlight

This week, we're proud to recognize Jayden Lopez and Raul Osorio Zetino, two incredible Dragons who made the decision to enlist in the Kentucky National Guard last year. After completing boot camp this summer, they returned to Doss to continue their senior year -- bringing their newfound sense of resilience and leadership into our classrooms. These young men represent the strength, responsibility, and determination that we love about our Doss community. We're proud to celebrate Jayden and Raul and are grateful for their commitment to serve!

Congratulations to our Doss seniors, Françoise, Melani, and Amanda for receiving comprehensive financial aid packages to Bellarmine University! We are so proud of all your hard work!

Janelle is a talented cellist who recently performed at the historic Brown Theatre, showcasing countless hours of practice, discipline, and passion. Her commitment to her craft both in and out of school is a true reflection of the excellence and perseverance we see in our Dragons every day. We're proud to celebrate Janelle's achievements and can't wait to see where her musical talents take her next!

This week, we are looking forward to our PBIS Pizza Party on Friday!

There will be a craft, a sports station, a movie station, and games in the small gym on Friday, December 19th during 6th and 7th periods. Students must have earned at least 35 points throughout the month of December to participate.

Pro Tip: Dress up for our Holiday Spirit Week to earn PBIS points and/or teacher signatures on punch cards!

Due to forecasted frigid temperatures in the early morning hours on Monday, December 15, 2025, we have made the decision to use a Non-Traditional Instruction (NTI) day for students and staff. Temperatures are expected to warm throughout the day so all after school athletic and extracurricular activities will go on as scheduled.

ONE WEEK | Reminder! The Application Period for the 2026–27 school year closes in one week. Families with incoming kindergarten, 6th, or 9th-grade students who live in the Choice Zone will need to select between their close-to-home or their far-away school options before next Friday’s deadline.

❄️IMPORTANT | Due to forecasted winter weather, all JCPS events scheduled for 7 p.m. or later this evening (Thursday, Dec. 11, 2025) are canceled. A decision on Friday’s schedule will be announced tonight or early tomorrow morning.

It’s almost Holiday Spirit Week at Doss, and we can’t wait to see our halls filled with festive fun! Join us each day and show off your holiday style:

Monday: Holiday Accessory Day — wear your winter hats, scarves, and socks
Tuesday: Candy Cane Day — wear your best red and white
Wednesday: Mad About Plaid — war anything plaid
Thursday: Tacky Thursday — wear your tackiest sweater, lights, sequins, etc.
Friday: Holiday PJ Day — wear your coziest seasonal pajamas
