know your rights

Dear High School Parents and Families,

We hope you are doing well! We want to share important news about an upcoming event at Newcomer Academy.

On May 22, we will have a Know Your Rights presentation. During this event, high school students will learn about the laws that protect them and ensure fair treatment for everyone. In Kentucky, students study civil rights, which are the rights that make sure people are treated with respect, no matter their background or the language they speak.

At this event, students will learn about their rights at school and in the community. They will hear how laws help protect them and ensure fairness for all. Our goal is to help students feel safe, valued, and welcome at school.

If you do not want your high school child to attend this presentation, please call the school to let us know. We respect your decision and will make sure your child has another activity during this time.

If you have any questions, please call 502-485-6324. We are happy to help!

If you would like further information about immigration resources, please refer to this JCPS page.

Thank you for being part of our Newcomer Academy family.

Sincerely,

Gwen Snow
