Dear families - thank you for choosing Newcomer Academy for the 2024-25 school year! We had a wonderful year! Our school is lucky to have an experienced and diverse staff to support the needs of our students. One of our teachers, Maria Calderin Vinent, was just highlighted on WHAS11! See her story here!
We also want to extend our congratulations to our graduating class of 2025. Fifty-six 12th graders graduated high school on May 24. We look forward to accompanying many more students next year who are seeking to accelerate their graduation. If you know of anyone who might be interested in our program, the requirements include: in the US less than five years, a multilingual student, and age 17 to 21. Contact us at 502-485-6324 for more information!
I want to share a few updates to help you prepare for the next school year:
Have you verified your transportation plan for next year? It just takes a few moments. Go to this link. Call us at 502-485-6324 if you need assistance. Please be sure to complete this by June 13 to make sure a bus stop is available for you in August.
Our "Back to School" event will be August 4, from 12 pm to 4 pm. Please look for an invitation in the mail for more information. You will also find it, along with all other upcoming Newcomer events, on our events page
Parent calendars for the 2025-2026 school year are available on the JCPS school site. Choose which language works best for you!
Will your student participate in JCPS athletics next school year? You will want to make sure they will have an updated sports physical. There are several opportunities to do this for free over the summer - select your language under "JCPS Student Physical and Vaccine Clinics 2025"
Newcomer Academy will have several Fall Sports that will start practicing in late July. These include Volleball and Cross Country running, as well as High School Soccer! Learn more at our athletics site, linked here.
JCPS has summer meals available for students - please check this site for more information and to find a location near you.
JCPS has approved a new cell phone policy. To learn more about it - click here. Beginning with the new school year, all JCPS students will not be able to use their cell phones during the school day.
Summertime is a great time for your child to continue learning. The Louisville Free Public Library has a Summer Reading Program that is free to all local students. Learn more here!
Have a great summer!
