A Powerful Celebration of Culture, Identity, and Belonging!
What a meaningful way to close Hispanic Heritage Month at OAS! Our celebration was about more than culture and traditions. It was about identity, resilience, pride, and the power of embracing who we are.
We were especially honored to welcome Assistant Superintendent Mr. Larry James, who connected with our students by sharing his message in Spanish. His efforts were a beautiful reminder that language builds bridges, honors cultures, and strengthens our sense of belonging.
A heartfelt thank you to our inspiring guest speakers, Vivian Marin from the Louisville Metro Office for Immigrant Affairs and Luis David Fuentes from El Kentubano, for sharing their experiences, perspectives, and powerful messages with our students.
A HUGE thank you to every OAS staff member who helped bring this celebration to life! Your dedication, teamwork, and willingness to go above and beyond made this experience truly special for our students.

Saturday School will be held this Saturday, October 17, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. This is an opportunity for students to complete recovery work from the first grading period.
Students who already have an ESS permission slip on file do not need to complete another one. Students who need a permission slip may stop by Ms. Alubudy's classroom at any time to pick one up.
Students are learning how to organize a compare-and-contrast essay using the Painted Essay strategy. By using colors to identify each part of the essay, our Owls are strengthening their writing skills and building a clearer understanding of essay structure!
Our eighth graders reviewed Unit 2, Lessons 1–3, while our seventh graders reviewed Unit 2, Lessons 1–4. Students worked together at timed stations and switched to a new challenge every five minutes!
The first group to complete all of the stations earned a special reward. We are proud of our Owls for working together, staying focused, and strengthening their math skills! 💜🦉
