The school day may be over, but the learning never stops for our OAS educators!
During this week’s faculty meeting, our teachers demonstrated what commitment to continuous growth looks like. Even after a full day of teaching, supporting students, and managing countless responsibilities, they were fully engaged, collaborating, sharing ideas, and reflecting on how to strengthen instruction for our students.
Our conversations focused on student discourse, effective engagement strategies, higher-order questioning, and using learning walk data to guide our next steps.
One thing I truly appreciate about our OAS team is their willingness to continue learning and growing together. We ask our students to be active learners, critical thinkers, and engaged participants, and our teachers are modeling those same expectations!

What stands out most is the belief she builds in her students. In Ms. Ninamou’s classroom, students don’t walk away thinking, “I can’t do math.” They are learning to believe, “I can do this.” She creates a space where students feel welcomed, encouraged, supported, and capable.

The student sitting beside you may be facing something you know nothing about. A kind word, an invitation to sit together, or simply choosing not to laugh at someone else’s expense can matter more than you realize.
To our students: Your words have power. Use them to build people up, not tear them down. You do not have to be someone’s best friend to treat them with dignity, kindness, and respect.
To our families: Raise the child you want others to encounter in the world. Teach them to treat others the way they would want to be treated. Teach them that kindness is not weakness, that differences are not reasons for cruelty, and that standing silently while someone else is mistreated is a choice, too.
Middle school is hard enough. Let’s not make it harder for one another.
