Walk-A-Thon Information
The Bates Elementary Walk-a-Thon takes place on Friday, September 26th. In addition to the walk, there will be other activities for our students to enjoy, a live DJ, and a station with snacks available for purchase. Following the walk, all students will enjoy a picnic lunch outside with their class. Parents, grandparents, etc. are welcome to attend!
Any parent/guardian/adult that will be attending will need to have a volunteer background check completed AND on file. You can complete and check the status of your volunteer background check on the jcps website here: apps.jefferson.kyschools.us/volunteer/
Because Walk-A-Thon is about making memories with your child, we are asking that siblings not attend. This allows you to be present and in the moment having fun with your Bates Bear student.
Students will need to wear tennis shoes for Walk-A-Thon activities (NOT crocs or sandals for safety reasons). They can bring a towel or small blanket to sit on for our outside picnic lunch. Students may bring a sack lunch from home or get a lunch from our school cafeteria (no outside food is allowed). If your child is needing sunscreen, please apply that at home before students come to school– can not apply sunscreen at school.
If you (or a family member) plan to attend this event with your child, please return the slip below by Monday, September 22nd. Reminder: all visitors will need a completed volunteer background check on file in order to attend.
Volunteer tickets will be sent home with your child on Thursday, September 25th. You will need to present your ticket and photo id when you arrive at school on Friday, Sept. 26th.
Students in grades 3-5-- Cheer tryout information was sent home earlier with students (deadline is 9/18). See below for more.

Did you know our Bates Bears PTA fund raising money goes toward Donuts for Grownups, Glow Parties, Fall Bash, school dances, an amazing leadership space, playground equipment and more-- ALL TO BENEFIT OUR BEARS!!!

Reminder that business sponsorship amounts are added to responsible student's total amount raised. This is a great way to level up prizes.

Our fall book fair is in full swing, so feel free to stop by the library and pick out a great bedtime read!
Please park in our front/back parking lots or at Cedar Creek Church next door. Please DO NOT park at Panera Bread. They are fabulous neighbors to us, but their parking lot is for their customers only.
