Crosby Families,
As we build momentum this week, I want to highlight how we measure and support your students’ learning through Standards-Based Grading (SBG).
Our goal with SBG is to bring clarity, transparency, and equity to every classroom. Rather than focusing on simple task completion or speed, SBG provides accurate, actionable feedback that reflects genuine academic growth and skill mastery. When reviewing progress with your student, consider shifting the conversation from points to skills. Try asking them:
"Which learning target are you working on in class right now?"
"Where do you feel strongest, and what step can you take to practice this specific topic?"
Family Teacher Conference day is next week Wednesday September 23rd - check out the next slides for complete details and sign-ups.
Thank you for your continued partnership at #ThePlaceToBe! Click Here for the slide deck!

Crosby Families,
This week, our staff is focused on building momentum, finding reasons to celebrate small victories, and helping our students push past hurdles so they can keep growing with confidence. A big part of that confidence comes down to reading. While reading naturally belongs in English class, our teachers are actively weaving reading, vocabulary, and discussion into every subject at Crosby. This includes Math, Science, Explore, KEY, and even PE. When students feel capable of reading and analyzing information in any setting, it unlocks their confidence across the board.
A few quick ways to support at home:
Ask about unexpected reading: Ask your child if they came across any interesting vocabulary or articles outside of English class this week.
Notice the effort: Give them a quick word of encouragement when you see them sticking with a challenging assignment or reading task.
Thank you for always partnering with us to support our kids. Let’s have a great week ahead @ThePlaceToBe! Click the link for the entire weekly slide deck
