This past Tuesday, our amazing Hawthorne students were recognized by the Jefferson County Board of Education for their outstanding achievements at the Kentucky World Language Association (KWLA) Student Expo!
The KWLA Student Expo celebrates students’ abilities to communicate in multiple languages, explore world cultures, collaborate with others, and showcase their creativity through writing, speaking, visual arts, performances, and more.
We are incredibly proud of our students for representing Hawthorne so well and demonstrating the power of bilingualism, biliteracy, and global citizenship. Their hard work, talent, and dedication continue to inspire us all!
A special congratulations to all of our participants, award winners, and Distinguished Communicators. We are proud to be the home of Kentucky’s future multilingual leaders! 💙🦅💛

Today, June 8, 2026, is the final day to request bus transportation for the first day of school. Every JCPS family must complete the Transportation Verification (TV) form to let us know your plans.
Eligible bus riders who fill out the form by the end of the day today will be notified of their bus stop location in July via the JCPS Bus Teller. Don't delay—get your request in now!

Congratulations to Beth Bynum, our new SBDM parent representative! Beth will serve on Hawthorne’s SBDM Council for the next two years. She is the proud parent of Miles (current 5th grader) and Reid (current 3rd grader). We are excited to welcome her to the council and look forward to working with her!
We also want to thank everyone who expressed interest in this important role and for your continued support of Hawthorne Elementary.
Emily Frederick will continue serving as our second parent representative, with her current term expiring in June 2027. Our teacher representatives are Melody Rosenblum, Kathryn Cohan, and Jean Hummel.
