🚀 NEXT LEVEL | The JCPS Technology division teamed up with Google for Education and Forward Edge to host Google-Palooza earlier this week—welcoming 500+ teachers and staff to level up their skills in Google Workspace and dive into the future of AI with Gemini!

And that’s not all… 🎉 JCPS has officially completed its districtwide migration from Microsoft Outlook to Gmail, powering stronger collaboration, innovation, and connection across our schools! Huge thanks to everyone involved for helping keep JCPS on the cutting edge.

We were just notified that the Bardstown Road entrance to our school is closed this morning due to replacing a fire hydrant. We are asking all parents and staff to come in the front entrance and we will direct you to drop students off at the same side door as normal and then we will loop everyone around to exit back on to Clarendon Ave. We appreciate everyone's patience this morning! Please prepare and come a little earlier than normal. Thank you!

📚🏀 Hawthorne Wins Again! Ms. Herman’s second grade class has once again claimed victory in the UofL Women’s Basketball Reading Challenge, reading a whopping 1,538 books! They were celebrated on the YUM! Center Jumbotron during the Louisville vs. Wake Forest game — what a proud Hawk moment! 🦅❤️ While on-court recognition didn’t happen as originally promised, our students were still honored in a big way, and we’re incredibly proud of their hard work and dedication to reading. This experience has also sparked rich conversations around advocacy and voice — Ms. Herman’s class will be writing letters to practice both their literacy and civic engagement. ✍️ Way to go, Hawks! #ReadersAreLeaders #GoHawks ⸻ 📚🏀 ¡Hawthorne gana otra vez! ¡La clase de segundo grado de la Sra. Due to the additional snow and ice on roads and sidewalks throughout Jefferson County, JCPS will utilize a Non-Traditional Instruction (NTI) day on Wednesday, February 4, 2026. Students should follow their school’s established NTI protocols. NTI days are recognized as standard instructional days and will not extend the school calendar.

All after school athletic and extracurricular activities are canceled for Wednesday. If there are any changes to the YMCA CEP program, families will be notified by YMCA CEP.

🚨REGULAR SCHEDULE | After careful consideration, JCPS will return to its normal, in-person schedule on Tuesday, February 3, 2026.

As always, we encourage everyone to use caution and their best judgment when traveling to and from school.

We appreciate your continued support of our students and staff throughout JCPS.

Hawthorne Families, JCPS has a 2 hour delay on Monday, February 2. Doors will open at 10:10 and school begins at 10:40. We’re also celebrating the 103rd day of school! Have your student dress in summer wear (hats are allowed!). They are also encouraged to bring a beach towel for an indoor lunch picnic. Students still need coats and closed toed shoes! We are excited to see you back at school! ---- Familias de Hawthorne: JCPS tendrá un retraso de 2 horas el lunes 2 de febrero. Las puertas abrirán a las 10:10 a. m. y las clases comenzarán a las 10:40 a. m. También celebraremos el día 103 de clases.
