Enter the front for this entire week! Staff members will direct traffic for morning and afternoon car rider. We appreciate your patience.

We were just notified that the Bardstown Road entrance to our school is closed this morning due to replacing a fire hydrant. We are asking all parents and staff to come in the front entrance and we will direct you to drop students off at the same side door as normal and then we will loop everyone around to exit back on to Clarendon Ave. We appreciate everyone's patience this morning! Please prepare and come a little earlier than normal. Thank you!

📚🏀 Hawthorne Wins Again!
Ms. Herman’s second grade class has once again claimed victory in the UofL Women’s Basketball Reading Challenge, reading a whopping 1,538 books! They were celebrated on the YUM! Center Jumbotron during the Louisville vs. Wake Forest game — what a proud Hawk moment! 🦅❤️
While on-court recognition didn’t happen as originally promised, our students were still honored in a big way, and we’re incredibly proud of their hard work and dedication to reading.
This experience has also sparked rich conversations around advocacy and voice — Ms. Herman’s class will be writing letters to practice both their literacy and civic engagement. ✍️

¡La clase de segundo grado de la Sra. Herman ha ganado una vez más el Desafío de Lectura del Baloncesto Femenino de UofL, leyendo la increíble cantidad de 1,538 libros! Fueron celebrados en el Jumbotron del YUM! Center durante el partido de Louisville contra Wake Forest — ¡un momento de orgullo para Hawthorne! 🦅❤️
Aunque no pudieron ser reconocidos en la cancha como se había prometido, nuestros estudiantes sí recibieron un gran homenaje, y estamos increíblemente orgullosos de su esfuerzo y dedicación a la lectura.
Esta experiencia también ha abierto la puerta a conversaciones importantes sobre cómo alzar la voz y abogar por uno mismo—la clase de la Sra. Herman escribirá cartas como una manera de practicar tanto la alfabetización como la participación cívica. ✍️
