THIS WEEKEND | The East Area Elementary Family Resource Center Coordinators are hosting a Community Baby Shower and Early Childhood Parent Resource Fair this Saturday, March 21, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Klondike Elementary.
Any expectant parents or parents of children ages 0-5 years are invited to attend this FREE event. The event will feature several parent sessions for new and expectant moms that will provide help with breastfeeding, birthing plans, advocating for yourself and your child, and taking care of your mental health during and after pregnancy.

Join us Monday evening at 7:00 PM in the auditorium for a special night of music! Our Symphony Band and Wind Ensemble will be performing their KMEA Preview Concert, and we are excited to share their hard work with our school community.
We are also honored to welcome the Derby City Brass Band, who will perform between our student groups. It promises to be a wonderful evening of music, and we hope to see you there!

✨ PEACE IN THE CHAOS | Self-care isn’t selfish—it’s essential.
JCPS families came together last week for an evening filled with food, games, and hands-on self-care resources designed to help everyone discover simple, meaningful ways to create inner peace. From laughter and connection to practical tools to take home, this event was all about caring for ourselves and each other.
Because when families feel supported, our whole community grows stronger.

A fun wrap-up to the Critical Problems and Design Solutions unit in Ms. Cross’ class! After reading The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind, students created STEM podcasts about global problems and the innovators who solved them.
To connect to the story, students built pinwheels inspired by William Kamkwamba’s windmill that helped save his village in Malawi from drought. Innovation in action!

Our 7th Grade Orchestra earned a Proficient rating, missing Distinguished by just a few single points—so close! They also received Distinguished in Sight Reading, which is an incredible accomplishment.
Even more to celebrate, our 8th Grade Orchestra earned an overall Distinguished rating!
