Today, Ms. Higdon’s English 1 class visited the library for the first time this year! Our librarian, Ms. Haney led them through Library Orientation and Book Speed Dating. Students had 3 minutes at each table to look through books related to their unit on survival and rate the books they observed. By the end of class, each student checked out at least one book! We’re so glad to see our Dragons getting comfortable with the library and enjoying the books!

Many cultures. One school. Doss High School! Our Hispanic Students United proudly participated in the Parade of Cultures today to formally kick off Worldfest! Students carried flags representing the many cultures and countries that make up our diverse student body, proudly celebrating the richness of our community. We are so proud of our students for representing Doss with such joy, pride, and unity! We want to recognize HSU sponsors, Ms. Beitia and Ms. Francis, whose dedication to our students goes far beyond the classroom. Thank you for always going the extra mile by encouraging our students, believing in them, celebrating their cultures, and creating opportunities for them to feel proud of who they are.

Today, Ms. Broughton’s Anatomy & Physiology students took their learning to the next level! Students explored anatomy through immersive VR technology brought to Doss by the University of Louisville Department of Physiology. A huge thank-you to Dr. Terson, Dr. Maldonado, and their crew for bringing the equipment and experience to our Dragons! We also want to give a special shoutout to our very own Mr. Downs for making this connection possible. This is just the beginning of what we hope will be a strong and lasting partnership with UofL. We’re excited for the collaborative learning opportunities ahead!

💡 DID YOU KNOW | JCPS has adopted a Language Access Plan (LAP), available in multiple languages, to help ensure multilingual students, families, and employees can communicate effectively and access district services and information in their preferred language.

View the LAP: https://www.canva.com/design/DAG2bBklRnQ/3r-5oYH2VnEDGflVdbC5PQ/view?utm_content=DAG2bBklRnQ&utm_campaign=designshare&utm_medium=link2&utm_source=uniquelinks&utlId=hfa48bdac12

Available in multiple languages: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1FSP9gKb5lplKaJpYFC3WZrHpgf5puE6U/view?ts=6a724033

The LAP explains the language support services, resources, and communication assistance available throughout the district. It also describes how JCPS provides interpretation and translation services, approved language-access technology, employee training, and multilingual communication practices across schools and programs.

If employees prefer to communicate in a language other than English, they can contact their immediate supervisor for work-related communication within their department or the appropriate district department when seeking assistance from another district office, such as Human Resources.

Schools, programs, and departments may request language support services through the Language Services Office to facilitate communication with students, families, and employees who prefer to communicate in a language other than English.

To learn more about the LAP, information about language support services, and district language access resources, visit the JCPS Language Services webpage: https://jeffersoncpsky.sites.thrillshare.com/o/jcps/page/language-services
