Today we celebrated our multilingual learners who showed outstanding growth on the WIDA ACCESS test by increasing their scores by 0.5 or more! Students enjoyed pizza, cookies, and received a t-shirt to recognize their hard work. We are incredibly proud of our multilingual scholars and all they continue to achieve!

We are proud to honor our Rotary Bridge Scholars who completed 18 college credit hours for free during their senior year this year, as well as our A2C students who completed the Accelerate to College program during their junior and senior years! Well done, Dragons!

Today, our Hispanic Students United shared their time and talent by offering free face painting at the Cinco de Mayocelebration at Fourth Street! We are grateful to the event organizers for the invitation and for allowing us to be part of such a meaningful celebration for our community.

🎉 GAMECHANGER AWARD | Superintendent Dr. Brian Yearwood was honored to accept the Metro United Way Gamechanger Award on behalf of JCPS this week at the organization's seventh annual Community Impact Awards, also known as the "Immies."

Presented by Old National Bank, the Immies event celebrates the great work done to help kids thrive, households grow stronger, and ensure our community is more equitable!

For the past few weeks, our French students took learning beyond the classroom at the University of Louisville French Film Festival! Each week, students attended film screenings, engaged with professors and community members, and participated in thoughtful post-viewing discussions, all while experiencing authentic French language and culture. This was a wonderful opportunity, and we are thankful to Matthieu Dalle for organizing such a fantastic event each year!

A proud moment for our Doss community! This past Friday, two of our incredible educators were recognized at the Educators of Color Awards. Congratulations to Dr. Johana Gomez on her nomination for Assistant Principal of the Year. This nomination is a reflection of her leadership, passion, and the care she shows our students every day. And a very special congratulations to Ms. Yuriany Beitia, who was named High School Teacher of the Year! Her commitment to making every student feel seen and valued truly sets her apart. This recognition is well deserved, and we are incredibly proud to have her representing Doss. As always, there was a lot of learning happening in the Health Science Academy this past week! Our juniors had a great time in the GI lab, exploring how the digestive system processes food and bringing their learning to life. Meanwhile, our seniors focused on real-world skills in infant care; practicing swaddling, burping, and feeding with care and confidence. And in the middle of it all, we even had an impromptu sewing lesson! Shout out to Miss Sarah Pataluna for creating engaging, real-world learning experiences for our students every single day. Your dedication does not go unnoticed! Experiences like these matter because they ensure all students have access to hands-on, meaningful learning that connects to real-life skills and future careers. This is how we continue to build classrooms where every student feels seen, supported, and prepared to succeed. This is what learning looks like, hands-on, inclusive, and empowering. So proud of our students and staff!

First day back after spring break and our Health Science students jumped right back in—hands-on and focused! Walking into classrooms and seeing students actively engaged, practicing real-life skills, and working together was everything. This is what learning looks like when it’s meaningful.
