After graduating from high school, Joe would move to Louisville in 2003 to attend the University of Louisville (UofL). During his time at UofL, he met his wife, LeTicia, while completing his bachelor of arts degree in English at UofL. His time there would also include many leadership positions, including resident assistant, conference director, President’s Office Cardinal host, and orientation staffer.
Upon graduating from UofL in 2007, Joe would go on to become a substitute teacher with JCPS, a group leader for the YMCA Teen Scene Summer Camp (a camp for teens with disabilities), and a site director for the YMCA Child Enrichment Program. It was during these years that he found his calling for working with young people.
Joe would go on to complete the JCPS ACES Program before teaching at Wheatley Elementary for four years. After resigning from JCPS, Joe continued his career, teaching at the West End Boys School in Louisville.
Joe is still furthering his learning as a classroom teacher at the West End Boys School while also being the father to a lively 3-year-old, Corrina. It’s through his experience as a dad that Joe has learned the importance of nurturing the character and individuality of our children.
