A longtime educator in Bullitt and Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) has been named the new principal at Lincoln Elementary Performing Arts School (LPAS). Samantha Miller, who currently serves as an assistant principal at Price Elementary School, will begin her new role at Lincoln on July 1.
“I'm honored and excited to join Lincoln Elementary Performing Arts School as the next principal,” Miller said. “My years of experience as a teacher, instructional coach and administrator, along with my background in musical performance, have prepared me to lead with empathy, purpose, and a strong commitment to student success.”
Miller has more than 20 years of experience in education. She spent her first 11 years as an elementary school teacher in Bullitt County schools before moving to Price in 2015 and working directly with students as a reading, math and writing interventionist. Miller became an academic instructional coach at Price in 2018, helping teachers improve their classroom management and teaching skills before being promoted to assistant principal in 2020.
Dr. Jessica Rosenthal, assistant superintendent of elementary Zone 3 schools, called Miller a transformational leader at Price.
“Ms. Miller, a talented trumpeter, boasts an extensive arts background that began in JCPS and flourished through her college years and professional career,” Rosenthal said. “Known for her boundless energy and joyful leadership, Ms. Miller values strong relationships, self-reflection, and equity, ensuring a positive and inclusive environment for all.”
Miller holds a Master of Education degree from the University of Louisville (UofL) as well as a Master of Art in Teaching and an Education Specialist in
Instructional Leadership and School Administration degree from Bellarmine University. Her bachelor’s degree is in music from UofL.
Miller is a graduate of JCPS’ Youth Performing Arts School which means her passion for music and the arts is coming full circle with her appointment as leader of a performing arts magnet school.
“I look forward to working together with the incredible Lincoln community to inspire growth, learning, and achievement for all students,” she said.
