Elementary Magnet Lottery Wait List

Magnet programs have a limited number of seats. When more applicants apply for a program than there are seats to accommodate them, a random lottery selection process is used to fill the available seats and create a wait list for the program. Placement on the wait list means your child was not selected for initial placement as a result of the lottery process.

Parents will receive a letter containing their child’s wait list number for first-choice applications the week of February 17, 2020, for elementary magnet schools and programs.

The wait list status will be updated every Friday at 4:30 p.m. until the fifth day of the 2020-21 school year. The second-choice applicants will be added to the wait list after March 5, 2020.

The wait list number indicates your child’s position on the wait list. Your child’s wait list number will not change even though the number of students on the wait list may decrease as placements are offered.

The waitlist is now closed for the 2019-2020 school year.

The wait list is maintained for elementary magnet schools and programs that use a lottery for their applicant selection process. Wait lists are only maintained for elementary schools that currently have a wait list.

The magnet application period for the 2020-2021 school year is October 28, 2019 - December 18, 2019. Any applications submitted after the deadline are considered late applications. Late magnet applications are not included in the wait list and will be reviewed based on building capacity and program need.

Middle and High School Magnet Lottery Wait List

Middle and High School Lottery Wait List status will be available for traditional middle and high schools after March 6, 2020, for first-choice applications. The wait list is maintained for middle and high school magnet schools and programs that use a lottery for their selection process. Please submit an Open Records request in writing at open.records@jefferson.kyschools.us in order to determine your child's wait list status for middle and high school. The wait list will be maintained until the fifth day of school. The second-choice applicants will be added to the wait list after April 14, 2019.
